ReStory tools and parts guide

The current Home Depot catalogue contains 16 tools. They cover cleaning, faster screw removal, painting, soldering, automated baths, broken-part recycling, tips, and firmware work; the table below records their current prices and functions.

Buy tools in progression order

Tools are bought from Home Depot after internet access is installed. More advanced versions in the same family appear only after the earlier version is purchased, so the screwdriver, brush, ultrasonic-bath, shredder, and toolkit lines progress in tiers.

Air Duster is the only consumable tool and can be replaced when empty. Ratchet and electric screwdrivers reduce fastening time; thicker brushes and ultrasonic baths speed up cleaning without changing which parts are dirty.

The soldering iron appears after conversations with the electrician and is required for the Akiba repair competition. The airbrush, soldering iron, and an Unlock-Toolkit are also tied to particular requests and story progress.

Match tools to order services

Use brushes, Air Duster, or an ultrasonic bath for cleaning. The N3, N6, and N9 baths automatically handle up to three, six, and nine parts respectively, making their higher prices primarily a capacity upgrade.

Use the soldering iron on faulty electronic components when replacement is not the required repair. Use the airbrush for paint requests after buying a ¥7,000 paint set, and use Unlock-Toolkit only on a fully assembled device requiring a firmware update.

The Tip Jar and shredder family generate money rather than performing a customer service. Shredders convert broken parts into cash, while higher tiers improve that money-making function.

Source replacement parts

Parts - Packuten sells new parts for licensed device types. Its device filter only shows items you are allowed to service, so a missing part category can mean that the corresponding license has not been obtained.

Marketplace sells used devices and random-part boxes. Used devices can be dismantled for reusable components; boxed parts may arrive dirty or need soldering, so include the extra work when comparing them with new parts.

Keep spare parts in the workbench box and rely on the notebook to identify what must be placed on the mat for assembly. The all-device table provides total reference costs, while the live job determines the parts actually needed.
